The modern architecture and building designs of downtown Austin flows up to the home of Texas democracy, the Texas State Capitol Building.  The Capitol Building is visible from the walking path at Congress Avenue Bridge and is most majestic when lighted at night.    Congress Avenue is famous for the Capitol Building at the North End of the Avenue and Congress Avenue Bridge, home of 1.5 million Mexican Free-Tail Bats that migrate from Central Mexico in early Spring through Fall.  Batfest Festival is an annual event held on Congress Avenue Bridge to raise funds for the Bat Conservation International (BCI.)   The BCI promotes the preservation of our batty friends and provides educational tools to better understand bats, their habits and the fact that bats in the belfry can be a good thing!   It is a tourist’s must do to visit this site and the best photos are derived from sitting along the banks of the Colorado River below the bridge waiting for the nightly flights of the huge swarm of bats to vacate their home under the Congress Avenue Bridge and vacuum up loads of insects and other flying varmints for nutritional value and reduce the bug population    cont'd
