Travel Gallery #1 'Batfest' weekend in Austin, TX Sept 2007 A Walkabout on the fabulous walking paths of Lady Bird Lake formerly known as Town Lake provides beautiful panoramic views of downtown Austin and the beauty of native Texas along the Colorado River. Town Lake was renamed Lady Bird Lake July 26, 2007 in honor of Lady Bird Johnson. The Lake was formed in 1960 to provide a cool pond for the Holly Street Power Company and with an eye to the creation of a recreational site for walkers, bikers, kayakers, boaters, and fisherman. As the skyline of Austin changes with new construction and unique architectural designs going up, it is a joy to walk along the pathways and marvel at nature meeting the 21st century. cont'd
